SHEI “Banking University” is the core institution of higher education in Ukraine of the fourth accreditation level, which trains specialists for the National Bank of Ukraine and the financial and credit sector and upgrades professional skills. Studying at the university is carried out in the Ukrainian, Russian or English languages. The university consists of four institutions – in Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv and Cherkasy. It has MES of Ukraine License of AE 3607.
Having more than a seventy-year experience in teaching financiers, bankers and accountants in regional institutions. SHEI “Banking University” has become a response to the challenges. Rapid development of banking in Ukraine, coming of powerful foreign investors and a competition in the banking market together with the need of adaptation to the Bologna process called for bringing the national training system to international standards.
Creation of the University allowed to concentrate a unified management of instruction, retraining and in-plant training of specialists in a close collaboration with the National bank of
Ukraine.

The University is a member of nine international associations. It cooperates and supports contacts with fifty international organizations, higher educational
establishments, banks and other financial institutions from 24 countries of the world. The University launched a bid to UNESCO General Conference to start a department of UNESCO.
The agreements with such foreign higher educational establishments as the Higher School of Management in Barcelona (Spain), the Higher School of Economy and Management of the University of Applied Sciences (Essen, Germany), the Baltic International Academy (Riga, Latvia.), the Krakiv Economic University (Poland), the Micolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania) on the ” Double diploma” Programme favour achievement of international educational standards.

Such an agreement was concluded with the High Business School (Montreux, Switzerland).
In 2013/2014 academic year 36 students of the University chose this programme for learning That is by 1,7% more than in previous period.
The University of Banking was rewarded for the best business-case in a nomination
“Labour practices” and received a diploma for participating in the 4th National CSR Market Place.Exhibition The business-case titled ” Healthy young people – healthy financial system of Ukraine” attracted considerable interest, because under the market
conditions the specialists having both good professional skills and physical conditioning are highly rated.
High level of psychophysical qualities of an employee under market economic conditions makes his position competitive and provides professional longevity. Therefore development and introduction of acts concerning management of professional health should be a necessary step in any company on its way of steady development. The presented experience of the University in this sphere has become a good example of omprehensive education.
As a result of collaboration with the departments of the NBU and International Financial Corporation (IFC) the University was the first in Ukraine to work out the Master’s Degree programmes on corporate management and financial monitoring in banks. The University was also the first in Ukraine to publish a textbook on corporate social responsibility . It initiated introduction a corporate social responsibility science as obligatory discipline for learning at higher educational estadlishments The first job description of a professional standard of a manager on corporate social responsibility has been developed.

The University experts worked out a pilot educational course of “Financial literacy” . They became the authors of similar manuals for teachers and students. After successful pilot training of schoolchildren the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved the study of financial literacy at comprehensive schools.

In May 16, 2014 Kharkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of State Higher Educational Institution (SHEI) “Banking University” celebrated its 70th anniversary.
